DNS failures are insanely common these late days...

The problem is that when Devster's site is down, the forum affects too. Sometimes almost all icons, and the background disappears too. This is starting to get annoying... I were going to put this in a new thread but the "new topic" icon did not appear... Poor me...

And, sadly, my ISP is so sucky these days that DNS failures happen EVERY SINGLE MINUTE! Sometimes, loading the forums gives me DNS timeouts for the ads or some other thingy - it's fairly common for me to be stuck at "Waiting for optimizedby.rubiconproject.com" I even discovered that if i did a tracerouter to some random site (i.e. my hosting), knocks off the route somewhere, because after that i'm unable to connect to it for at least 30-60 minutes! Now, that's TRWTF(tm).

I can load the forums OK, but there is often missing backgrounds or icons. But it works often around 21.00+ but now, when it's 10.45 etc. it usually don't work.

Shared hosting sucks I think I paid 6 months for $5, so that probably explains everything . Internet hosting is much much cheaper than it use to be 10 years ago - it should be cheaper than $1/month now

My new host also does that kind of crap (and mind you, it's a $40 for 12 months with a local Venezuelan provider - but the servers are on USA). In fact, if i've noticed something really weird: if i attempt to do a traceroute to my host, somehow i lose all access for 30min-1 hour after that. Looks like something knocks out the routers, or some weird antihacker protection... Also, NO ONE in Peru can't even load the homepage!!! But DNS failures are still the new trend these days. I even had to switch DNS servers, because my ISP DNS server became highly unreliable... I now run my own caching DNS server on my cheep P225MMX (with fallback to the fat Google 8.8.8.8 public DNS - OpenDNS is another big turd)

Meh, this is Venezuela, the land of $2500 SIM-locked Blackberries and $2000 iPhonies

$2000 iPhones? Man, your truly living in hell... It usually costs up to $650 in Sweden and the prices haven't (which is weird for cellphones) changed for months. So, it's quite expensive here but you in Venezuela...

And know what? People STILL BUY their $1500-2500 BlackBerries because they're "hot" Curiously, iPhone is nearly dead here - we have not enough Apple fanboys, but truckloads of Nokia and BB fanboys. And even weirder, Venezuela sells more BBs than the REST OF THE COUNTRIES OF LATIN AMERICA ADDED TOGETHER! Nobody can find a explaination to that fact In other news, i still buy RAZRs

I wouldn't pay over $100 for just a phone I mean.... I'm trying to get away from all the technology and fancy gadgets now that I know how it all works

We don't even have BB's in Sweden... Everyone uses Sony Ericssons here.

Back to Internet failures, use this neat gizmo to check your connection: netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/I've discovered that, while DNS is not the big problem here, my DSL has way too much buffering... and, coupled to a suboptimal uplink, it leads to extremely long page load times Even opening ONE page in Firefox is way too much effort! "Time to switch ISPs" is a phrase that does not apply - i have no other choices.
