I got the same error as you. SNASM68K can't work stand alone too. It is because of dos prompt setup wrongly. I do many things below to fix it. (Maybe something is no need)
1) Install VB6 runtime 2) Run: regsvr32.exe cmcs21.ocx 3) XP system path wrong, I fixed it 4) I use chinese XP, but dos prompt wrongly set to USA english. I change it back to BIG5 chinese. (right click dos prompt ico to change setup) 5) I restore autoexec.nt ,config.nt ,cmd.exe and command.com in system32 directory.
After that, SNASM68K can work stand alone. But BasiEgaXorz say "DOS/4GW Professional error (2001): exception 0Dh (general protection fault) at 227:0000B052"
Then I don't know how to do. Just install all the updates from MS update site to update my XP. Then everything work. I'm happy.
But I'm sure, if clean XP should not be problem to run BasiEgaXorz. My XP down many times, so, it has problem to run it.
(Above may have error, but it work fine for me)

I don't think installing the VB6 runtime, or registering cmcs is going to affect the way snasm68k runs. The installer for v1.00 of basiegaxorz should also do all that for you too

What is 'XP system path'? And that you mean 'I restore autoexec.nt..'?
I found funny thing - if BEX directory contains basic.bin file (with anything inside, even empty), BEX says that compilation was successful and write header inside that file (without actual code).

XP system path is %SystemRoot%\system32, can setup from Control Panel/system. Inside this path have cmd.exe, use for dos prompt.
Use original XP install disc, inside i386 directory. Under dos prompt : expand autoexec.nt_ c:\autoexec.nt expand config.nt_ c:\config.nt
Copy autoexec.nt and config.nt to windows\system32 directory.
Hope it can help you.

Did you mean to add system32 subdir to PATH variable? Anyway, it did not help. Old and new autoexect.nt and config.nt was same (different size because different comments, but same config lines).
