Is it possible to switch to the Master System resolution (256x192)?

SMS Mode is listed in Devster's VDP Doc. link And a bit more info in Charles MacDonald's VDP Doc. link

You can do it via two ways:
1. VidMode
Or
2. You can take a look at the, Mekanaizer, folder inside the, Examples, folder over Elusive's Second Basic compiler for a assembly example.

Is it available via VidMode? How? It's not mentioned in the documentation.

Is it available via VidMode? How? It's not mentioned in the documentation. Command_VIDMODE: Syntax: VidMode <Mode Keyword>, ... Description: Changes the drawing mode of Sega's VDP (video display processor). Valid video modes are: DOUBLEINTERLACE, INTERLACE, VID32CELL, VID40CELL. Modes can be mixed around, or not even used at all. devster.monkeeh.com/sega/basiegaxorz/basiegaxorz_full.html#Command_vidmodeEDIT 1: Now I see your question I will try to figure how to do that (if possible in MD mode) and share the assembly code with BEX users. If all goes right I will ask Elusive to implement it over Second BASIC. (If the 256x192 res is possible in MD mode) EDIT 2: Found it not working 100% in both modes, MD and SMS, my example that is in the SBS example tree/dir. bounce_256x224.sbs (1.48 KB) EDIT 3: If you change #$8C00 (that is vdp mode 4 res 256x...) by #$8100 (with this you get vdp mode 2 res 256x...) by triggering 1 for bit 7 EDIT 4:Here is the example of the res 256x192 now fixed (I hope) runs for PAL and NTSC the same way:bounce_256x192.sbs (1.58 KB) source bounce_256x192.bin (12.69 KB) binary (rom) I still need to do more reading and tests on real hardware to be sure of what works or not. Plus this post is been written as I think. LOL

Doesn't work apparently. It's running at 256x224.

To make the MD really display 256x192 you would need to trigger ON the pin 30 of the cart slot, in other words turn ON the SMS mode.
To use the res in MD mode you need to crop the res 256x224 or 256x240. landeel, please read the comments within the last example.

Yes, to enable that video mode and such, it's a hardware connection, so you can only get those resolutions by cropping by yourself, otherwise make a SMS game for the SMS
