There is an NES programming wiki at wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/Nesdev_Wiki. I was thinking, what about if we could do a Sega Genesis Programming wiki in the same manner as the NES wiki? It would be filled with snippets of code and hardware/software information, as well as BasiEgaXorz commands and their corresponding 68000 code snippets. I think that it would be interesting.

Well, El Barto started one here, but it needs to be filled in.

Cool. Maybe it will actually wind up as something useful now.

Cool! Well, two years with no one doing anything left plenty of openings for spam.

I dunno, "Ex Girlfriend Pics" Could be an undocumented function that loads the first jpeg found in your Recycle Bin.
Still, I cannot figure out how they got the Pussy to zoom in while the Babe crawls in parallax. Is the code ripped from Zoom!?

It was Sega's "bonus package" for early adopters.

Someone should write a better pr0n demo, anyway. The SNES had shitloas of them (well, mostly slideshows), while the Genesis/MD only had a crappy one... What about a competition? Back to topic: if anyone is going to write a BEX wiki or something, we should start rewriting the user manual, it had become quite a mess along all these years...

I've got no experience editing wikis but I'd be willing to start inputting the old manual info so others can revise.
Some points to cover: * Really, really got to put the workaround for the broken save support in there for all to see. * Most BASIC newbies expect collision functions to work. Got to make it clear how it's a bit different on a Genny. * A basic scrolling engine should be demonstrated as a template for beginner games. Again, newbs expect a more robust system for creating levels and rooms.
These are not complaints but things people coming from a BASIC background are looking for.

¹ You mean accessing the Sega CD memory? ² Are you referring to the VDP Collision flag? ³ That's why they are called noobs BasiEgaXorz isn't a game engine, it's a development environment. The PS3 / 360 don't have a level creation system build-in either Anyway, attached is a basic example how to use the Collision flag ( it's pretty useless in most cases though ). Attachments:

Thanks for the example moon! I'll have to get much better at BasiEgaXorz to understand your code enough to add comments for the layman. Definitely a worthy goal though.
BasiEgaXorz isn't a game enigne. Heck, it's not the most robust IDE even. I don't even mind as it reminds me of QuickBASIC which I will always love.
The modern consoles have Torque and Unity for those not "hardcore" enough for C and assembly. Although I'd like something similar for Genesis I'm not holding my breath.
My only point about a scrolling engine template is that it's the next logical step in explaining BasiEgaXorz scrolling functions. No one wants to make the next Shove It!. Everyone wants to make the next Sonic.
