Is there a better way to convert images other than using Imagenesis?
The problem I'm having is that I've created an image in photoshop, set it to 15 colors (though 2 of them are black, one white, and 1 transparent), and white isn't used, a 2nd black is redundant, and not sure what the transparent color ends up being since there's no transparency in the image.
Anyway.
If I set Imagenesis to 15 color, 8bpp, 1 plane, it claims 14 unique colors, but the image is only 5 colors (either optimized or not), if I set it to 30 colors, same results, but if I set it to 256 colors, it comes out looking near perfect.
I understand the limitations of the genesis, but man, this is killing me. Any ideas/suggestions/etc?

Try using YY-CHR, that's what I used for the title screen for the unreleased Airstriker 2 (you'll just have to know a bit about tiles and mapping to make the tiles be displayed by hand instead of having a program convert the map and palette data for you)
I haven't messed with BEX or any genesis stuff since like early 2009 though so I can't really help you.

mic: definitely going to check that out, thanks!
memorydump: I like things with an interface. I tried that program, and it didn't cut it for me. Also, I kept getting an error that a pixel wasn't in the palette, even though it was.

Yeah, I seem to get that error as well. most of the time it turns out my bmp isn't in RGB format though. Only last night I tried something that worked fine, but when I moved one of the tiles suddenly it kept giving the palette error. I dunno, but it most cases it's held up.
I messaged the creator last night for supporting sprites too, and he said he might have that done tonight. So it still works best for me. I'll have to mention the palette error if it still does that.

Ask him to make an interface for it as well

Haha, I prefer interfaces all the time, but with this it's simple enough that it's not really needed. The only hard part is figuring out what's wrong if you get that pixel palette error.

be happy that the programs aren't like mine without even command line parameters so you got to change stuff in source and run it to get the conversions (I did add config file option to it recently so you can put all the text and numbers into a file and run the program and it does what file says).

Tiido, you should release your tools

half of the tools require QB45 (regular QBASIC.EXE is not enough) to run and/or compile, when someone really wants to try them hit me up on AIM/YIM/ICQ/MSN/Gtalk and I'll see what is possible ^^

Hmm, I have not got any contact invitation/notification.... (Miranda IM is broken again...) ? I am online right now, and will be for about 6 more hours, and then some more hours when I'm back home.

AIM doesn't give you notifications. My AIM name is elusiveshame
Also, devsters time seems to be way off from me (not sure if there's a setting in my personal settings to adjust time zones), so 6 hours when ya posted this could be 2 years over here lol
