controlling individual IC chips

I got this cool FM radio on-a-chip thing, and I'm planning to make a circuit for it..

is there any way to use BASIC to control it, with the following in mind?

it has a basic structure, but I don't know if it'll interfear with the ROM chip, as it also seems to need to occupy address lines... (makes no sense, why would it need address lines? )

I have never seen an FM radio IC with a remotely similar pinout. However, assuming the pinout is close to correct, A1-A3 are almost certainly control lines for buttons (maybe channel up, down, seek), and D1-D3 are almost certainly a 3-line serial connect (serial clock, serial in, serial out). Without a datasheet to provide more info, good luck on trying to figure out enough to make it work.

if you want to interface it to the genesis, you'll need to make some kind of input-output interface circuit (consisting maybe of data latches + buffers + address decoding), and then use basic's peek and poke commands
