On x64 systems, assembler may not run (it's a 16-bit DOS program). On x86 systems, it should run, but if it were you, i would keep XP installed, at least in a VMWare virtual machine or something... Vista is no good for programmers, but your mileage may vary

yea, snasm doesn't work on everyone's computer for some reason (it's a really old assembler), even on 32bit os's. i really wish i could replace the assembler with something else, bit it's kinda hard already to port a lot of the code to another assembler. maybe i can get a modified mingw gcc assembler going, but even that doesn't work on everyone's computer either

If you look in the UNIX source code archive of BSVC, you'll find 68kasm - a crossplatform 68K assembler that compiles and runs in both *nix and Windows systems. It has both the makefile and project files for compiling in *nix and Windows. The docs for it are also in the source archive. www.bradfordmott.com/bsvc/download.htmlOddly enough, the Windows installer for BSVC doesn't have 68kasm, just the simulator. So you have to compile the assembler yourself. So pretty much everything you need is in this file: www.bradfordmott.com/bsvc/distributions/bsvc-2.1-src.tar.gzConsidering it works in *nix as well as Windows, maybe this could be the start of a crossplatform version of BasiEgaXorz. ;D EDIT: I compiled it on my linux box to see how it works... it compiles with gcc 4.1.1 as long as you change the exit() functions to exit(EXIT_FAILURE) or exit(EXIT_SUCCESS) as needed in files, and add "#include <stdlib.h>" to those files that use exit. Once you've made those changes, I only got a few warnings and it would assemble the sample programs without error. This is in 64bit Fedora Core 6 with the latest gcc.

can't use BSVC because it doesn't look like it supports local labels, and macros. i think the assembler is based off another gnu released 68k assembler's source also i think i'll have to stay with snasm. i think the biggest problem people have is with actually installing the application, and getting the ide to run (because i don't really have a great right installer)

Spam is really a HUGE problem right now. I guess the spammers have broken the problem with character recognition. One of the suggested solutions to make it harder for spam-bots to join is the "kitten" recognition system. www.artsoft.org/phpbb_ka/download.htmlYou should see the spam problems some other forums I'm on are having... you can see the spam arrive in real-time.

All ASMX-based versions should work under Vista, since ASMX is Win32-based. No word on 64-bit Vista versions, though... As for SNASM-based builds: avoid them!
I will not bother testing it, since i have no Vista PCs (and no plans to migrate). It works fine here on WinXP Home, WinXP Pro (all SP2-based, i haven't tried SP3 yet), and Wine 1.0 on Fedora Core 6 (64-bit, but Wine builds are always 32-bit for obvious reasons).

Anyone willing to port SPAM(tm) to BEX? Back to topic: Has anyone here tested BEX on Windows 7?

Has anyone here tested BEX on Windows 7? Yes. After installing the needed OCX files it works just fine, just like it did on vista and XP for me.
