About a year ago, I was a student at a career center which often obtained technology from companies which was donated to the students to do with as they pleased. In addition to snatching every 27Cxxx EPROM I could find, *wink* , I also got a few other things that seemed like they were important at the time. I got a Orion Unilab 8620, which can be found at sunsite.rediris.es/sites/download.intel.nl/design/att/58.PDF, on the first page. It seems to be a PC software development/emulation station for Intel's 8051 family of microprocessors, with EPROM burning capabilities, upload to machines, debugging, and other things. I'm wondering if this can be used to make ROMs or in general game system development, and if not, how much can I sell it for?

yea, it can be used for game development for the 8051 platform, and also for burning eproms (?) for other platforms i guess. depending on what you want to use that kit for, you'll still need to write code for it i'm estimating that you could probably sell it on ebay for >$50. the manufacturers set the value for microcontroller development kits high cause they're used for production, but on the streets, its value isn't worth half as much. the 8051 series wasn't really used for games, mostly industrial controls and plc's because of its direct bitwise/boolean operations

I have bought an Orion 8620 (cheap) but don't have any software or even the emulation cable for the 8051. W/o that, it's pretty worthless I know -- so I'm wondering if anyone has the software (floppies or translated to CD) that I can get??
How about emulation cable? ... anyone got it from an otherwise scrap unit? I'd be willing to pay $$.
Thanks!
