I noticed that BEX can compile genesis roms with files outside the script, and this can be done with gym audio files and bin picture files. This got me to thinking that maybe I could create a menu that could load genesis roms.
The reason I want to do this is because I plan on making a repro cartridge, and that the game I want to copy takes up about 1/4th space on the rom chip I plan on ordering, so why not cram another game on there? And yes, I know about flash carts. I just like having something that's permanent, and plus I like creating stuff.

BEX wasn't really designed for Ye Olde Pirates... but anyway, Have a read through Tursi"s Blog , it has detailed information on a multi-cart menu complete with BEX source.

So what he did was solder two rom chips to a pcb each containing a rom? I'm sort of confuesd. I'm sort of a noob to retro gaming hardware hacking.

The only thing missing is the program to combine the roms. Any idea on where to find that program? I tried just merging the files together, but only the menu rom loaded, and wouldn’t load another in Fusion. Unsure if this requires the PCB attached to that thread or not to get it working. Any info?

Thanks Wraith! I guess the question is does the rom work in emulation after it’s been put together? If so, it probably doesn’t need any special mappers, otherwise the PCB file attached to the tutorial thread is needed (though, it’s an 8MB board, so 2x the space required for the tutorial). I’ll do some testing when I get home

I dunno. I tried using that French utility with CrazyBus and one of my other small games. Only CrazyBus fired up. No menu system to choose games.
UPDATE: You know, I don't think I've heard of any utility that actually does this. Basically, you'd have to decompile the ROM and change where things are pointed in the ROM for each game added.
