Tip: Convert MIDI music to XGC

You will need 3 tools:

midi2vgm : www.mediafire.com/?fhdys05bush5gxi

xgmtool: github.com/Stephane-D/SGDK/wiki/Download

vgm_trim : github.com/vgmrips/vgmtools

1) Use midi2vgm gui to convert your midi file to vgm;

2) optimize the vgm file:
xgmtool file.vgm file_o.vgm

3) add a loop:
vgm_trim file_o.vgm 0 -1 -1 file_o_loop.vgm

4) compile:
xgmtool file_o_loop.vgm file.xgc

5) Now you can use the XGM driver to play your XGC music file: devster.proboards.com/thread/1071/add-music-sfx-game-driver

Is there a link to a Windows binary of vgm_trim? I'm not quite sure how to compile C programs.

If you want to get a general idea of what your MIDI will sound like before conversion VLC 2.0.8 is the last version to support MIDI. You can use soundfonts via the Fluidsynth support:
