Hello,
I just joined the forum after doing a search for all things related to the Radica Genesis-on-a-chip systems from about ten years ago. My wife gave me her Radica not too long ago, but it doesn't seem to work. It appears that she attached a 9V power supply to it, probably while the batteries were still inserted. After removing the batteries, I tried it again with a 6V power supply; it still seems dead.
My first thought is that the linear regulator got burned up by excessive voltage. So I guess I have two questions to ask at this time: 1) Where do I need to put my multimeter probes to test the board and verify the linear regulator was blown? What voltage/current/resistance level am I looking for? 2) Would it be difficult to replace the linear regulator, as a person of very basic soldering skills and limited experience?
Thanks for your help.

The problem turned out to be pretty simple. I just needed to find an AC adapter with the correct polarity. With AC adapter in hand it works fine off AC!
