when it comes to play snes roms on the original hardware, the only stuff you can find in the net is a 64 mbit flash cart. it seems as nobody is interested any more in that system. (there should be some wild card dx2 www.nesworld.com/archives/swcdx2.htm around in hongkong, but not here in europe) when i saw your modded sega, i received new hope that it's possible to attach a harddrive or something to my snes, have a menu and run rom(file)s from it. can you give some tips how that could be achieved ? i'm actually not a pro solder, just a hobby programmer ;D

all you need to do is make a hard drive interface, connect some ram, build the banking hardware, program the os, and you have yourself a modded snes =P. by the way, every detail to do just that is pretty tough. the reaseon i never got into developing on the snes was because nintendo used real wierd hardware for the system.
it will be hard to play every game made on the snes using a modded system because many bank switching, or external cartridge hardware exists. this mean that lots of memory is not the only thing that you need, but you will also need a way to implement each bankswitching, or cartridge enhancing hardware.
the snes is a great system with tons of great games. it's too bad i sold my snes system off to funcoland to buy a gameboy color when the gameboy color first came out =P

nah, instead of going through all the hard work, i was hoping that there would be more progress in emulating the snes on the dreamcast, and then playing the game from there =D.
and ya, it is difficult because i'd think that the point of modding a snes to play games without their cartridges would be to play games like super mario kart, or donkey kong, or star fox, and all the rest. most of those uber cool games use external components on the cartridge like a dsp (and there are like 6 different kinds of dsp's for snes), which would be hard to implement in the design. if i were me, i wouldn't even go to those boundaries =P
