Do you believe it is possible to attach IDE CD-ROM drives to a Sega CD?
If yes, what would it need? An IDE Controller? Some kind of data-lines redirection?
Post your comments 'cause I need to run CD-RWs in my SCD and I don't want to burn another laser unit raising the laser power so it can read CD-RWs.
Thank you.

the only thing i could think about putting an ide controler on a sega is:
omfg slowness...
you would have to find an OLD and i mean OLD cd burner that supported 16 bit data, and that was extremely slow (1 or 2x read) because a 68k thats that slow will have a terrible time loading data from a cd drive.
on my old Macintosh LC III, i used to have a SCSI cd-rom reader (like 4x i think) and man, talk about slow as mollases, and the cpu was 25 MHz with a 68882 co-processor at 25 MHz, and it was still stupidly slow.
if you were going to do that, what i would do is make an assist module for the ide controler. like a 68030 @ 33 MHz with some ram and precache parts of the cd that you know the sega will need, and just have it read it from there so its not grinding away needless cycles seeking data on the cd drive.

i think buying 1000 cdr's will be better for you than trying to make the sega cd use ide =). the sega cd, and ide interfaces are totally different, you're going to be putting in more work on this interface conversion than you really need to
