Hrm...guess I'm lucky TWICE then! I have two 6-button pads that are identical and work fine with the Radica! ;D In the words of the Budweiser Ad.- "True, True!"

@scdloverx - please be careful with that "post reply" button...no double posting! Anyhow...to answer your questions... YES, it DOES play almost all of the original games with a few exceptions... 1. No Virtua Racing / Sonic & Knuckles (special hardware in cart) 2. No "save" carts (Sonic 3 / Phantasy Star 4, etc...) 3. No SSF2 (cart is 40MB so not supported!) And unfortunately it has no RS232 side port - so no SEGA CD then...sniff!

Dang!!
I Know the Tech that your talking about Sega's Lock On Technology used in S&K
And I know that the Radica Technology is too poor for 40Meg Carts, and not to smart for Batt. Backup (Saving Games)
But the power in the Radica that it can't read 40meg carts means that even if u can't add a RS232 Port it might not work.

Hmm...I think that @oompaloompa is ADDING Rs232 support for his own personal dev. Radica portable... Oh and your links don't work even with copy / paste!

go for it
problem with ssf2 is that it uses addresses that cannot be accessed outside of the radica. games that use external ram use an extra write enable line to write to this memory, which the radica doesn't have without modification. rs232 and other peripherals will work =P

maybe =P
anyways, there's a chance that automatic bankswitching for radica carts may be implemented just by using 3 logic ic's, or a simple pld. the TIME pin (B31) on the cartridge connector pulses low when accessed from $A13000. i tested this line, and it works =D. i haven't actually, physically built the circuit for automatic bankswitching yet, so the idea hasn't been tested

Ookay! If you get round to building the circuit, keep us posted and I can build it too for...umm...'debugging' purposes....heheheheh, LOL! ;D

use the radica banking circuit i already made to build yer basic banking components: devster.retrodev.com/pub/radica_banking.gifthen connect the input identified by LATCH (on the 74LS174, pin 9) and connect it to pin B31 on the cartridge connector whacha mean by debug? i don't think there'd be bugs to debug =P
