It's something I want to know for so long : Is it possible to replace a CD Rom drive from a SegaCD1/2 ? here is a SegaCD2 inside : and on my web, misc pics of the MCD1 inside (Tech>Misc >MCD nightmare) according CMD, at cgfm2.emuviews.com/gen.php (and from my MCD1 inside) the CDRom controller is a Sanyo LC89510 or LC895155K so, can the CDRom be replaced ?

if the controler is IDE compliant, you could probably make some jerry-rigged ide cable soldered onto the scd board. but from the looks of my scd (version 2) its some proprietary one made specifically for the sega cd hardware.
it would probably be less of a hassle to go down to your local game fellas and have them order you a used one.

NeoGeo is why I ask about the MCD... I know it's possible to change it (a guy I knew put a faster drive on his one)

some versions of the sega cd 2 have the cd driver (don't get it conused with the 89515 controller) on the "mother board" itself with the 89515 (like my versions =o)

I'm Pretty sure it's possible on a Tray model (USA-SCD 1) but i haven't had the need to change my system's disc tray!
