but i know it cant play with php or mysql code, those are very cpu intensive processes. . Actually, MySQL is the resource waster here. In my machine, it drains handles and mem quickly, and takes a looooooooong time to shutdown. But most PHP scripts are very resources-friendly. In resume: MySQL is like Garfield... it eats resources like Garfield eats lasagna ;D . But PHP is like a worm: most of the times you will not notice it. Of course, without a database, forget about running forums, nukes, and wikis. (the original Wikimedia (the base of Wikipedia) script is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!)

Maybe a variant of PHP which used dBase instead of MySQL? I know that dBase is not very appropriate for multiple simultaneous users, but it is very light. Even a Z80 machine with 16KB can handle it. On the other hand, I doubt even Devster would be crazy enough to try this!. ;D

screw php and mysql on a 14mhz 68k =D it already lags in running a speedy basic interpreter =P
also, there are boards that don't use myqsl, or any database program for forums. i made a board once that only used text files. when a page loads, it just spits that text file out, even faster than mysql. when a user wants to post a message, it just appends that post onto the end of the file - easy =). the only problem was searching.......

Text files? You must have a big harddisk.... and routines for sequential access (not load the entire file, just load the chunk that you want)

you could probably tell the sh2's to run the mysql and php stuff, wont lag as bad, but still take forever to execute code.

Only allow telnet access to the site!
BBS software ran nicely on 1 MHZ C-64.
I programmed a BBS (and message board) in basic (with small amounts of asm) on the C-64.

The C-128 was twice as fast (in non C-64 mode), had a newer VIC chip (supported more stuff), and had a CP/M (z-80 mode). That's about it.
Although, much of the new stuff was never really used. I think some business (word processing) allowed an 80 collumn mode using the VIC. There were a few C-128 BBS programs, but I'm not sure there was much difference between the C-64 and C-128 versions. I vaguely remember some C-128 paint program.
I can't remember any commercial games that supported the C-128 only. I think there were a few shareware types games that supported it, but nothing mind blowingly incredible. And, I don't recall any C-128 only demos from any groups.
Was there a special version of GEOS for the C-128? I think I looked at GEOS once or twice. I think it went something along of the lines of:
Hey, where's the crack intro? Wow, cool sh*t.....What would you use this for? Click!
