I've started development on a Frog Bog clone for the Genesis called Frog Feast. I'm not sure how far I'll get with it, but hopefully I can get a Sega CD and cartridge version finished. One big problem area for me will be music..

Cool! Nice to see you back ! I'm working on a segacd loader (assuming that MOD's one is going to be obsolete definitively...) that will support 256KB ROM (genesis) and a PCM+CD+LSTREAM audio... It's mainly for tavern rpg and my pdrom demo but i'll share it asap. Bye Fonzie

I've once again discovered the enjoyment of Sega development. After much frustration I got Frog Feast to run on the SegaCD. Maybe you can point me to the information to access greater than 64k in Word RAM, or how to get the SegaCD to load more than 64k from the CD. I'm not sure where the problem is. Currently I can copy less than 64k from $200000 to $FF0000. But, I would like to put data at $300000 and either DMA it to VRAM to copy it to RAM and then DMA it. How can I get the SegaCD to load more than 64k? I've tried setting offset $34, but this doesn't appear to affect it, or I'm setting it wrong. Is this a byte or word count? Also, is the $200000 64k or 128k? (Default settings)? And, can I DMA from Work RAM?

Yeah, in fact, the segacd can put a 256KB ram on genesis side (situated @ 0x200000)... So you can dl the rom on it and making the genesis jmp on the program.
You can perform dma from this ram but it seems (i mean, i'm not sure, i remember MOD told this somewere) that you need to put the dma starting adress 2 bytes before the wanted one.... This is due to a timing bug.
>How can I get the SegaCD to load more than 64k? Are you using MOD cd driver?
Well, default settings for the flipflopram is 128KB.... In fact, it's the MOD loader that doesn't handle more than 64KB loadings (i vaguely remember).
Anyway, i usualy dev my game in genesis rom style, and when finished i just edit a bit the rom header and compile it for 0x200000 (and i use the special loader MOD made me)... Also, since MOD is back, some updates MIGHT come. I repeat, i'll do a full segacd booting system soon, if you don't find any solutions, just wait 1-2 months, LOL.
Don't hesitate to post questions ^^

there's also the basiegaxorz source code that's out. it just has all the sega cd loading for 256k clustered games into wordram, and playing for audio. you could only use it if you spent some time reading my assembly language though =P
you could also use the program ram if ya want, its only 1m though, but still plenty =P. i haven't used the program ram for any code yet x.x, i forgot, but there was a good reason why
i don't think the sega cd included dma x.x, i think it may be dma from word ram to vram since that's common, but i dunno if there is another dma mode seperate form that

My code is based on a combination of the MOD released SegaCD demo and my early attempt at creating a SegaCD program.
I guess there's a limit placed on the loading of the boot code for the Main CPU. (MOD mentions a bug in version 1 bios that always loads 64k of data). So, I'll have to rely on the SubCPU to load the data to WorkRam and DMA it over from there. Not a big deal.

Frog Feast has officially found a home: www.game-shoppe.com/And it's being accompanied by 3 siblings: There will be versions for the Genesis, SegaCD, Neo Geo and. NeoGeo CD.. I got the Neo Geo CD version to boot on a real NeoGeo CD player tonight. Tomorrow night will be spent getting it to boot on the SegaCD.

The SegaCD version worked without a problem.
I'm definately on a roll. This is a blast, especially when stuff works. ;D
I'm close to getting a TG-16 and CD version going, then it's on to gameplay.

Hi, Kaneda. How have you been? You have created a nice collection of Genesis tools. Have you seen the Mappy map editor? ( www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Vista/7336/robmpy.htm) This is a nice editor, and it has file format information with it. When are the Neo Geo tools coming? I've also started doing some work on the CD-I. My initial work uses the Balboa library, but I am working to get some assembly stuff going to directly access the hardware. ( http://cdidev.emuvibes.com)And, hopefully I'll get some stuff going on the PC-FX. I'm waiting on one to come from Japan. That will be amazing. ;D

not very bad...even if these last 2 years were the worst (professionaly and idealogicaly) because of politic stuff i presume (shitt french gvt and world master!) yes I saw mappy I tried it but, i don't remember why, it didn't fit for Genny (256colors only no?) I totally stop NeoGeo stuff...I don't have enought free time for Genny so Genny+Neo I saw Blastar made great work for CD-i, i don't like the system for PCFX, it's too much a Video game, ie more Video than game and too expensive for the few games available....but i could understand you want this system added to your victim Already tried 3D0 and Nuon ?

I think a decent game could be written for the CD-I, if it was written to access the hardware, rather than use C and libraries.
I've done very little with the Nuon, and I have the 3DO devkit, but haven't looked at it.
The big problem with the 3DO is the encrypted disk.

you should contact MoD He said only a part of the 3D0 CD is encrypted

That's exciting news! I had almost given up on developing for the 3DO. FreeDO would make a nice platform to test on, since it will run unencrypted games.
