Lol, the sega genesis VDP cannot display more than 512 colors, and 64 colors on screen. You can raster and get like 1,805 colors, but it cant really be used for anything special.

You can do 32,768 colors on the 32x. You would probably want to use the 68000 to do the drawing, because I really don't think you want to start coding in SH2 assembly.
