I believe there's also a mallet and board for some whack a mole style game (I believe it's an Australian exclusive?). Correct, there were even two different versions ( both unlicensed & region free .. so it was sold everywhere ). This is all really fascinating to see all these peripherals that were created and sold that I completely missed when growing up. Don't forget the Activator

Oh man, I remember seeing the activator in an issue of EGM (electronic gaming monthly) back in the 90's claiming it would be perfect for eternal champions. I never had one, but I didn't think eternal champions was all that good.
Have you ever used one of these? I wonder how accurate it was (assuming not very, probably as good as the headset for the NES that you yelled "fire" into the mic to shoot your weapon in some games)

I added support to sgdk for the Menacer, the Justifier (blue and red guns), the Sport Pad (SMS trackball), six button pads, the Mega Mouse, the EA tap, and the Sega Team Player tap. It's all in there. Anything other than the mouse and 3/6 button pads MUST be connected directly to the MD as taps don't handle anything but the pads and mice. About the only thing left I need to add are the SMS lightgun, and the keyboard (very hard to find).

The Activator is just a fancy 3-button pad. I haven't used one before... not sure I'd want to. I never did get into those DDR games.

The Activator is just a fancy 3-button pad. Not exactly. It's a fancy 3-button pad when used with 3-button games .. but it actually has 16 distinct inputs ( 8 panels / beams capable of detecting high or low ). There aren't any games specifically made for the Activator though ( only Comix Zone, Eternal Champions and Mortal Kombat have proper support ) .. they should have packed-in a Menacer 6-Game style cartridge.

Just out of curiosity, which Mortal Kombat had support for it, or did they all have support?

Apparently Streets of Rage 3 has proper support as well, but not sure how that would differ from the regular 3-button layout. Perhaps they mapped both kick ( low ) and punch ( high ) to the same beam(s).

Ah - I've never seen that before. I may have to get one to see about "native" support rather than just 3-button pad emulation.

It's pretty terrible with the few games it does properly support ( and even worse with the rest ). But it could have worked for "games" specifically designed around its capabilities. For example ..
