I'm playing with development on the SNES . It's a pretty awkward system (in my opinion) compared to the Genesis, but it's pretty powerful. My flash cart is too simple too. Just an AM29F010, and two 74LS chips for programming the flash from the parallel port. And expect a BASIC compiler from me as well . It's actually completely different from BEX. The expression parser is more modern, and is more standardized in the order of operations compared to BEX's mess. It's not coming out anytime soon, but it's going to go through the same "birth cycle" as BEX (first release you will only be able to do PRINT and JOYPAD, and later releases will have more stuff)

Yay, sounds exciting! I'm neck-deep into Master System development at the moment, but will certainly give "BasiEndoXorz" a spin when it hits

Sounds cool! Going to allow those of us with GOOD flash cards to make better use of them?

So finally BasiSneXorz BasiEndoXorz will come to fruition? Neat! Finally i will be able to piss on Nintendo and port CrazyBus there (and for some weird reason, i have been reading some SNES dev stuff lately - now i have another reason to ditch ZSNES and switch to bsnes )

I don't think I want another Basi...Xorz either. If you guys have ideas, then I'm all open Okay, I don't want your Crazy Bus on the BASIC compiler though . One of the many reasons why the BASIC language convention is different on this compiler compared to BEX . Use your computer degree, and make us some platformer games , so we can all make better use of our flash carts

Would have suggested SuperBASIC if that wasn't already a interpreter for Sinclair QL

Something that's a little more descriptive & easier to remember then BasiEgaXorz might be a good idea though

SuperGagaXorz FukuTendoShima Will the IDE come bundled with raw meat cosplays and TEPCO shares? If so, i'm all in! Don't worry, for the SNES i'm going to do something much nicer. I have to revive some of my older projects (like that license plate generator), or actually create a logic game - i suck at platformers

I think the fastest way you're going to be able to build SNES software will be through Oompa's basic compiler once he gets it released and updated enough to make it do something besides PRINT and joypad functions From what I've seen, the SNES is a much more complex than the Genesis/Mega Drive, and it's not exactly the easiest thing to program for. Oompa: are you planning on throwing commands in for Mode-7 functionality? I seriously cannot wait for this IDE as SNES is my all time favorite console

Nope, no Mode 7 is planned in the future . Well, I have not even learned Mode 7 yet! Don't expect anything fancy, or a true development kit. For those of us that have went through the life cycle of BEX, it will be exactly that . Or by the time we get Mode 7, it will probably be 2 years from now (yes my domain is still registered til then) The goal again here is to get people interested in the SNES. Make some simple games (I gots to have more platformers, so I will start work on a library after I do graphics ), a few crappy RPGs, some cheap demos, etc etc. And then migrate those people to developing in C!

BEX has the capability of making huge games like RPG's so even if it takes you a few years to get the SNES version to where BEX is, it'll definitely be a useful IDE. Just toss in the asm/end asm code blocks as well, and if you have any SNES ASM documentation, toss it out to us as well

@oompa - You probably meant "migrate to assembly" ( instead of C ) @elusive - This is a good place to start.
