Hello! I was looking at your sega eprom board at devster.retrodev.com/sega/segarom.png and notice your cartridge port pinout was differents from the one we can find on the net.... can you give me some info on pin you called SL1 SR1 YS EDCLK !CE_L !CE_H CAS i used to take cgfm2.emuviews.com/txt/genhw.txt as the reference but it seems you made more tests and find more stuff... if you have some corrections to add on this doc, it could be very useful! thanks Kaneda

some of the pins on my schematic differ from the hacker's document b/c i used sega's schematic for reference, so those name appear there.
SL1 and SR1 are sound inputs that feed directly into the sega's sound mixer. like, you can hook up a mic or cd player or something and make tons o music.
YS is a wierd one. When I was experimenting with the 32x, I disconnected this line, and the vdp on the 32x couldn't render its graphics. I guess this indicated when the backdrop color is being drawn. The hacker's doc says its a video signal, but its not, its some kind of control signal.
EDCLK is the dot clock that runs at 2 times the speed (eg, 1 dot = 2 clocks)
!CE_L indicates that memory is being accessed from 0x000000-0x400000 (the cartridge memory)
!CE_H indicated that memory is being accessed in general (all memory addresses). i might have gotten CE_L and CE_H mixed up here.
CAS - i dunno. I think its a control line for VRAM. I thought that it was column strobe for dynamic memories, but there was no RAS line to go with it.

it handles it the same. just like a cartridge, with the sega cd, the sega cd's rom is present on the 68k's, so it runs =). i dont have a sega cd though =P
