uhm, the poll is to just give me an idea of how many still have a parallel port, or even a serial port

i dont go for the new whizbangs, because they always have flaws, bugs, problems, ect.
i ususlly stay a year or two behind the times so all the bugs and stuff can get worked out.
im never going to buy a motherboard without serial or parallel ports.

same here. i've only used usb once, and that was just to test it, and get familiar with it for this controller project. now, i can see many motherboards losing their parallel ports, and more printers turning strictly usb

Serial? Since my first mouse died, this port is a excellent dust depot
Parallel? Canon BJC-250
USB? My Flash stick (RIP... a guy broke it)

Holy crap, I have the exact same printer as Tom Maneiro! I feel so awesome.
I have no idea what ports I have though.

The BJC-250 is good, can output sharp pics (if using the expensive BC-06 cart and photo paper), and well-definded text. It is a bit slow (3ppm in b/w), but faster than most modern HP's. And drivers are very light! This is one of the original pieces that survive from my "original PC" that i got in 1998 (along with the AT case with a repaired power supply (fan had to be replaced), the CD (32X) and floppy drives, and the microphone)
I also have a Acer ScanPrisa 640P. Good scanner... but TWAIN drivers are a bit tricky
Serial port... any way to plug my Genesis pad there? (it does not supply +5V, just +2 or +3) Or to USB?

even if ya plug in your genesis to your serial/parallel/usb/ethernet/ide/whatever, it's useless unless you have something on your genesis running that recognizes and supports that hardware

I still have all of them, even with a relatively newer setup (MoBo: ASUS P4P800-Deluxe).
One other port I still have is the GamePort/MIDI Port (DB15).
Actualy:
LPT1 - PSXPAD - Dual Shock COM1 - Siemens MC60 DataCable USB1(of 6) - Creative PcCam 600 MIDI/GAME - Generic 6 button gamepad

i see lots of computers still have parallel and serial and all those bells+whistles =P. others use strictly laptops too, which doesn't have all that, but should have at least a usb port. sometime in the future, like 5 more years, i doubt parallel and serial ports will still exist on the 20 ghz boards =D
