ok, i guess you've all seen the example sources that come with basiegaxorz, and i would like everyones feedback on these. there are some fun ones ie: galaxian, groovey, chicken (omg mute the sound), shnakee, random word, apa, ff7 pics; and there are some bad ones ie: colors, and_or, continue, exit_while, long_data, data, copy speed text
these examples were the sources that i used to test the commands out, and find bugs, so they aren't perfect at all, but should be to the point in getting the concept of that example. i want examples to have the best out of both worlds: fun+concepts
now i have some ideas to achieve this: 1) comment more 2) more pr0n 3) there is no 3,4,5,6............
so i'd like to hear from you all what your favorite example program is, and what made it your favorite =D
i'm also taking requests for example programs you think are missing (like demonstrating how to use fake data, sprite techniques, highlighting+shadowing, gaming maps, collision detection, save sram, you name it), and would like to see in the next release

My favourite is FF7 pics because thanks to that example I learnt how to display pictures. Now I know how to use several pallettes and pictures in one plane so the result combining all the planes and all the pallettes can be great, that example was the begining of my BasiEgaXorz addiction . Galaxian2 was very helpful to learn about sprites (it is what I am learning now). Now I would like more example of little games (Galaxian, Chicken etc) because they teach you very well. Some examples of graphics effects such as shadow and highlight, rasters, distortions would be great.

you can now use multiple planes, and pallettes using imagenesis to display a picture that has a maximum of 31 colors. doing that will eat up a lot of vram (almost all of it =P), but will not have any distortion to the picture because of pallette limitations (like, if you've ever seen images with lots of colors be quantitized using multiple pallettes on a machine that uses tiles like the genesis)

See my latest CrazyBus version. Most of the images looks very crappy, but some do not lose too much quality when downgraded to 16 colors.
I thinked on doing this trick, but... how much VRAM space will use a single tile with 2 pallettes? Remember, i love to use 320*224 pics!
Also a question: PAL MegaDrive VRAM is bigger, has a different memory layout or both (PAL and NTSC) use the same VRAM map?
Another question: How i backup the BEX font in RAM or VRAM to have a copy when you need to overwrite that space for bigger/more images? I tried dumping the font from the ROM, and using Gens KMod, but the resulting dump is unusable due to some corruption.

it really depends. imagenesis will optimize the tiles for you so that each tile in vram is unique (never the same) to save vram space. 90% of the time your imiage should fit in vram
the pal and ntsc megadrive have the same amount of vram. both also have the same memor layout in vram
the newer version of the compiler will have a command that will invoke the font loader, so that the font can be loaded again, and even customized to different color entires, tile start, etc. the font loader loads 1 bit-per-pixel graphics, unlike the genesis regular 4 bit-per-pixel tiles

My favorite example would have to be Galaxian ;D But I would like to see more example's on things like graphic's and game play that have the quality of a 16 bit Sega genesis game ;D ;D
